Prairie View Assisted Living asks the community to join them in welcoming Angela Cuffe as the facility’s new administrator.
An open house is planned for the new administrator this Saturday, March 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome to meet Cuffe and join them for coffee and cookies at Prairie View.
She steps into the role previously filled by Stephanie Clifton, who moved to accept a job at Golden Living Center in O’Neill. A Northeast Nebraska girl all her life, Angela originally hails from Newman Grove and now resides in Elgin with her family.
As administrator, her duties include overseeing staff and resident care, meeting with families to answer questions, ensuring that those interested in living at Prairie View meet criteria, and generally, “just making sure things run smoothly.”
As a mother of four teenagers, Cuffe is certainly well prepared to do just that. Daughter Lisa is a senior at Elgin Public High School, and plans to pursue a degree in vocal music at Wayne State College next fall. Son Austin is sixteen and a sophomore at EPS. Next is Shelby, a fifteen-year-old freshman, while son, Ervin, an 8th grader, rounds out the four. Husband, Jeff, works full time with the Elgin Public Schools system and also manages to squeeze in time to work at the Niewohner’s Feedlot. Family, it’s clear, is very important to her.
Cuffe has spent the majority of her life caring for others. She just celebrated her twenty-first “anniversary” of being in the healthcare field. Her career started as a certified nurse’s aide, a certification she achieved two years before graduating from high school. Cuffe became a medaide in 2003 and in 2012, she earned a licensed practical nurse diploma from Central Community College. She has spent the last ten years of her career with Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, where she was a member of a team that received national awards in recognition for outstanding resident satisfaction and resident-focused excellence.
Cuffe officially assumed the title of administrator on March 12. But she has been dedicated to Prairie View ever since she was hired in February, frequently finding herself in the administrator’s office, even as she wrapped up her duties at Cloverlodge.
Getting to meet and know people one-on-one is her passion, and she can’t wait to sit down and hear some of the residents’ stories and share some of her own. “I love putting smiles on faces, everyday,” she said. Cuffe is also looking forward to planning different adventures for the residents and herself to enjoy. Like most of us, she’s excited for warmer weather and the growing that comes with it. She has plans to help the residents get flowers started and hopes to take them out to see the fields once planting season starts. For now, Cuffe is excited about planning an Easter Egg hunt at Prairie View for the Tilden-Meadow Grove community.
In her “spare time,” she enjoys watching sports. Cuffe is a diehard Husker football fan and loves to attend games. She pulls for the Minnesota Vikings when watching NFL games and she also enjoys NASCAR, saying that Dale Earnhardt Jr. is her favorite driver. A fitness aficionado, Cuffe enjoys working out and is a Team Beachbody coach. She also enjoys baking and cooking, as well as shopping and interior decorating.
